This image shows how localized our monsoons sometimes can be. See the massive storm cloud and then the massive wall of water in the center of it. Usually these storms bring massive amounts of rain, 1-2 inches in 5-10 minute time frame with 60+ MPH winds and lots of lightning, and sometimes hail, rarely, but it does happen, a tornado.
